8 BALL NEWS (2005)

Saturday 31st December 2005 - The Nags Head, Nuneaton. New Years Eve Shindig!

Another cracking New Years Eve at The Nags boys, we rocked our thingies off. The place was full to bursting point with bunnygirls, schoolgirls and cowgirls (cue the soggy saddle bags joke), we were well up for a classic ‘8 Ball’ ball and you didn't disappoint! . Where do you get the energy from? Taking us into the early hours, long after  'Auld Lang Syne', with your usual enthusiasm and without visible medical assistance. I thought Bone's drumming veins were about to burst on ‘Mony, Mony’. Oh yeah! New Years resolution  - LEARN ALL OF MOBY DICK!!, always gets us going but never ‘finishes us off’!! Hat's off to you (or maybe not thinking back to the hat hair situation) but here's to 2006 and loads more thong action from our favourite Rock Gods

Janie (Pink hatted Cowgirl)

Friday 23rd December 2005 - The Fir Tree, New Arley, Coventry

A great crowd turned up on this last Friday before Christmas to witness a classic 8 Ball show. Even though the Boys were penned in the corner they managed to belt out 2 ‘barnstorming’ sets. As the alcohol began to take bite, the crowd became livelier and raucous. As midnight beckoned, 8 Ball finished with the classic Small Faces track ‘All or Nothing’ which had the punters up on the tables and ‘singing’ along with DelFuego. Happy Christmas and see you next year.

Friday 16th December 2005 - Blacksmiths Arms, Barwell

A great crowd turned up on a cold winter’s night at Barwell’s premier Rock pub. The Stoke Golding posse was there in full plus a mini bus full of 8 Ball nuts from Nuneaton (you know who you are!!). The sweat was running off the walls as 8 Ball pounded through their set aided and abetted by some spectacular dancing (and falling) in the front row. It was gone midnight when the boys finally had to come off even though the crowd were baying for more. You’ll have to wait until April to see 8 Ball here again…..we assure you it will be worth the wait!!

Friday 9th December 2005 - Queens Hall, Nuneaton (with Budgie)

Playing with Budgie was a dream come true for Chico. Having been a fan for many years his illusion wasn’t shattered when he met their frontman/bassist Burke Shelley. After comparing basses and reminiscing about past Budgie gigs it was time for action. The sound, with Bram at the desk, was amazing. Forty five minutes of pure 8 Ball rock’n’roll had the 250 strong audience jumping and warmed up for the main act. Budgie do exactly what it says on the tin…. high vocals and 100% hard rock.

Friday 4th November 2005 - Quigleys' Irish Bar, Rugby

First impressions of Rugby’s premier Irish Bar was “Where the hell are we gonna play?” The stage was the smallest 8 Ball Joe had seen let alone played on.  After settling Joe on his favourite left hand side, Bone’s kit filled the entire depth of the stage leaving Chico balancing on a 2 foot square piece of boarding.  But it was worth it. As the Boys kicked off the room was packed to the hilt. What ensued was 2 hours of Rock and roll Damnation coupled with some hot thong action. The Guinness was flowing and flying. This pub knows how to rock!! 8 Ball will be back!!

Saturday 29th October 2005 - The Nags Head, Nuneaton

Ding-dang-doo! Tonight was a special night at The Nags. The Boys took to the stage at 9.30 to a great reception from a room that was heaving with punters intent on only one thing….to party. The running order had been radically changed which injected new life into the set and hence the crowd. A number of 8 Ball Tshirts were spotted in the audience (come on lads…..get your act together… there is a demand!). Tonight was the last time the Boys are playing at The Nags until their New Year Shindig and Fancy Dress (limited tickets available blah, blah! They are going fast!) and they were determined to give it their best shot and go out with a bang!! Which they nearly did when some idiot got up on stage doing his ‘Bez’ impression, knocking Chico’s stack over in the process. Luckily an 8 Ball die-hard managed to get in between the amp and the wall to break it’s fall. The Marshall was saved and he should be out of hospital next week! Cheers! The lads ran out of time as midnight struck but are already planning the New Year show…..be part of it, it’s going to be a night to remember.

Friday 23rd September 2005 - The Coundon, Coventry

A good-sized crowd with beer in their veins greeted the Boys as they took to the stage. A hardcore throng of fans and groupies had made the arduous journey from Nuneaton to give their all and they didn’t disappoint.  They encouraged the locals up onto the dance floor and whipped them into a frenzy. ‘Behind Blue Eyes’ and ‘I Predict a Riot’ went down very well as did the short rendition of  Led Zeppelins’ ‘Moby Dick’ at the end of Bones’ impromptu drum solo during ‘Mony Mony’. The Boys left the stage after playing three encores finishing with ‘Party’. I honestly haven’t heard cheering like that since Bone walked into his front room bereft of trousers with a copy of a Swedish Jazz mag under his arm not realising  he had gatecrashed his own surprise birthday party!!

Saturday 17th September 2005 - The Blacksmiths Arms, Barwell, Leicester

8 Ball took to the stage in front of a good sized crowd with the wind in their tails. It took a while though for the Blacksmith’s to get going but when they did it was a sight to behold. After sensing that the alcohol had finally kicked in, the band premiered their latest addition to the set, ‘Behind Blue Eyes’ by The Who. Despite Chico’s foray into freeform jazz at one point (we say wrong notes!!) it was very well received and was a springboard for the more upbeat numbers in the remainder of the second set. The Boys collective eyes were given a treat afterwards when a buxom lady offered her appendages up for autographing. Rock and Roll!!

Wednesday 14th September 2005

The Boys were in the rehearsal studio tonight finalising their version of The Who's classic 'Behind Blue Eyes', from the 'Who's Next' album, as asked for by Hayley in her email. The track was covered more recently by Limp Biskit. The band were more than pleased with the final result and were last seen scrawling the bass notes in biro on the back of Chico's hand!!

Sunday 4th September 2005 - The Nags Head, Nuneaton

Kick out the Jams Motherhubbards!! 8 Ball Joe are a class act! I’ve seen them five times this year at various places in the Midlands but this was my first ever trip to the Nags Head. I was impressed by the set up there. Good stage, PA, lights, the works. After taking the stage at 3.15pm (said 2.30pm on my flyer!!) the energy coming over was amazing. The first set lulls you into a false sense of security, the second set takes you beyond reason. Every song is a classic, but not the usual Pub Rock standards. New and old ride together. The usual and the unusual lay side by side in harmony. Never thought I’d hear the Steve Earle classic ‘Copperhead Road’ played alongside the brand new ‘I Predict a Riot’. I left at 6.30pm sweating, slightly dazed and clutching the latest copy of 8 Balls gig guide.

Saturday 3rd September 2005 - The Kingswood Tavern, Nuneaton

The Boys took to the stage after what had been a quiet few weeks at the Kingswood. It didn’t take long for the locals to douse the BBQ’s and get back to where they belong watching a top band at a top venue! 8 Ball premiered their latest addition to the expanding set, ‘I Predict a Riot’ by the Kaiser Chiefs’.

Wednesday 3rd August 2005

Tonight sees the boys in the rehearsal studio again. This time to put the final touches to their version of the classic new track ‘I Predict a Riot’ by the Kaiser Chiefs. If you would like a particular song given the ‘8 Ball’ treatment, email the band at headcharge69@hotmail.com.

The Avon, Avon Dassett - Friday 22nd July 2005

This was the first time the band had played here and the first time I had seen them. As they squeezed their equipment onto the small stage the three of them looked ready for business. The landlord looked worried as the Avon has had a few problems with the volume of bands recently. The band started playing and you could tell they were struggling to keep the levels down. But they persevered and gave a great show. The whole crowd got behind the band who were all very amiable and played some great sounds in between sets. Rock on!

Saturday 16th July 2005 - The Manor, Fillongley

This was the 4th year of the annual ‘Music at the Manor’ charity gig. Ten bands between 1pm and 11.30pm all giving their time in aid of ‘Breast Cancer Research’. For the first time 8 Ball gave up their headlining spot and kicked off the evening session as only they can do. 45 minutes of hot rocking madness jolted the crowd up onto their feet and dancing. Chico was about to ‘Kick out the Jams!!’ when organiser ‘Big’ Bill Heritage shouted that the following band hadn’t arrived. The crowd was treated to an unexpected threesome finishing with ‘Party’ to set them in the mood for what turned out to be a great day in Fillongley.

Joe's New Valves

After a ‘mere’ 21 years of continuous rocking, the valves in Joe’s Marshall amp have been renewed.  The old Marshall valves are now officially in retirement and been replaced by some ‘young guns’. A set of seven ‘Electro-Harmonic’ tubes now resides in their place. Lets hope they can give such fantastic service as their predecessors.

Saturday 9th July 2005 - The Nags Head, Nuneaton

The all new ‘cool’ Nags Head premiered it’s latest acquisition. Due to the heat generated by the 8 Ball Boys, the venue has been forced to invest in two large air conditioning units and boy did they need it. Even with a treble-header of gigs in town, the Nags was again heaving to capacity. The Boys did not disappoint. They cracked their collective whip with venom poisoning their prey with true vengeance. Midnight quickly approached and the band encored with ‘Please Don’t Touch’ and ‘Party’. As the Marshalls' were safely turned back onto standby, the crowd were still raring for more. Alas, the night was over….but what a night to remember.

Saturday 2nd July 2005 - Carey's Irish Bar/Nightclub

I’ve seen many bands at Carey’s over the past two years but nothing prepared me for 8 Ball Joe. They warmed up with a few standard cover versions lulling everyone into a false sense of security then let loose. The choice of material was faultless. From Rolling Stones to Feeder, the Skids to Electric six. The floor was heaving and, after fighting off the unwanted attention of admirers!!I danced 'til the very last song faded into a purple haze. Come on Carey’s, get the 8 Ball Boys back on and QUICK!!

Chico's New Marshall

The boy Fernandez has finally taken possession of a brand spanking new Marshall VBA-400 bass amp in his quest for sonic Nirvana. Ampeg and EBS were tried, tested and discarded as nothing sounds like a Marshall ‘All-Valve’ amp. Maybe now he’ll quit whinging and concentrate with his playing. JDF

New Years Eve Gig Confirmed 2005

8 Ball Joe have been confirmed to play at The Nags Head, Nuneaton on New Years Eve.

Tickets will be available soon. Keep checking for updates.

Saturday 4th June - The Nags Head, Nuneaton

This was the third time I'd seen 8 Ball Joe. They just get better and better every time. The Nags was full to capacity and so hot (A.C. Please!). The atmosphere was electric. When the band kicked off the sound was awesome. The 300+ crowd jumped and sang as though we were in the front row at Donnington.  There was no let up. During the second set, the bride from the wedding reception in the back room went up on stage and danced away to 'White Wedding' (of course!) which was quite surreal. The band finished just before midnight after playing at least five encores, following which everyone was in the mood to party. Especially me!!

Friday 27th May 2005 - The Kingswood Tavern, Nuneaton

The Kingswood was as hot and sweaty as Big Daddy’s armpits!! “Easy, easy, easy!!” was echoing off the walls as the packed crowd responded to revered guitarist and raconteur Joe Delfuego’s chanting. The temperature reached new heights as the band fired through their repertoire. A section of the crowd broke away from the security of the bar to do some serious rocking in front of the Boys. Spurred on by their enthusiasm, 8 Ball pulled another classic show out of the bag. A group of 8 Ballers I was talking to likened the atmosphere to that of the previous New Years’ Eve. Roll on September 3rd and beyond…

Saturday 21st May 2005 - The White Hart, Measham

From the outside the White Hart looked hardly able to contain 8 Ball. How wrong could they be! This was one of those gigs that the Boys love to play. Packed to the rafters with Rock loving punters, 8 Ball could do no wrong. The pub, the gaffer and the locals were some of the most welcoming and generous people we have ever met. Bone said afterwards ‘Next time we’re getting someone to drive us over in a van. I’m gonna go for it!!”. You have been warned!!

Friday 20th May 2005 - The White Lion, Bulkington

The White Lion was a bit sparse when 8 Ball Joe started the first set. Not for long! The room suddenly filled as was rocking as usual fronted by some heavily chested beauties that were in danger of putting the Boys off their stroke and bringing a tear to their Jap’s eye. The room soon turned into a steaming pit of Rock Frenzy as 8 Ball cogged up a gear. Finishing with ‘Danger, High Voltage’ caused an uproar and by 11.30 there wasn’t a dry thong in the house.

Saturday 14th May 2005 - Radford Semelie Club, Leamington Spa

The club at Radford Semelie was a completely different affair. With the entertainments being run by a vintage Punk Rocker this was not going to be the usual ‘club gig’. When 8 Ball struck up with the classic ‘Babylons Burning’ the floor was strewn with energetic punters on the verge of rioting. A great night was finished off with a local providing great vocals on ‘Gay Bar’ much to the appreciation of the crowd only to be eclipsed by Joe’s impromptu ‘Hendrix-like’ climax which even took himself by surprise. The boys said afterwards they will definitely be back here again!

Friday 13th May 2005 - The Albany Club, Coventry

Chico arrived at the Albany Club full of expectation. Armed with his new Ampeg amplifier he was ready to rock out. After being politely asked to ‘turn down a bit’ the Boys put in a ‘professional’ show but were frustrated as it was not really their scene. Chico looked down in the dumps & when approached he ranted “It’s going back tomorrow!!”. And it did……So much for Ampeg!!

Saturday 7th May 2005 - The LMRCA (Railway) Club, Rugby

Though not a ‘club band' 8 Ball Joe embarked on a three club run of gigs. The first being ‘The Railway Club’ in Rugby. Booked again by the genial Geoff Antill, 8 Ball Joe holed up in the snooker room til 9.30 when they played their first set to an appreciative audience who responded well after the initial shock of a band that played past ‘number 2’ on the dial. By the end of the second set the dance floor was occupied by a large group of determined dancers who obviously enjoyed numbers with a Rock ’n’ Roll edge. The band tapped into this and integrated some more into their four song encore. 8 Ball Joe will be back at the club in December.

Tuesday 2nd May 2005

This week saw Chico began the search for a new Bass Amp head with the help on PMT (Professional Music Technology) in Birmingham. His fist choice, a 900 watt ‘Ampeg SVT4-Pro’ (tube pre-amp with Mosfet power amp) didn’t suit his ears. He then followed this up with a Swedish made 600 watt ‘EBS – Fafner’ (again with a tube pre-amp with Mosfet power amp). The sound was fantastic and completely changed this ‘Valve only’ musician’s pre-conceptions about solid state technology. Monday see’s him take delivery of a brute of an amp, an ‘Ampeg SVT-Classic’. 300 watts of pure valve power (so it says) in an 80lb package that will be tested fully over the following weekend.

Monday 2nd May 2005 - Nuneaton Rugby Club Charity Day

Torrential rain poured down on the Boys as they unloaded their gear into the impressive marquee positioned alongside the ‘Nuns’ clubhouse. At 4.30 the marquee was bulging with visitors to the ‘Nuneaton Rugby Clubs’ Charity Day in aid of the George Elliot Hospital Children’s Ward.  The quality of sound was amazing and by the end of the first number the crowd got behind the band and didn’t relent until they had finished a five-song encore. Check out the photos in the ‘Joe Public’ Gallery.

Saturday 30th April 2005 - Kelly's, Leamington Spa

A good turnout considering the venue has been experiencing some licensing problems over the last few weeks. The Boys chose tonight to premiere their latest addition to the set, ‘Into the Valley’ by ‘The Skids’ as requested by Stevie Johansonn in his email. It was the ignition spark that lit the alcohol fumes and the crowd exploded into action going crazy on the dancefloor. By now the punters were like putty in Joe’s playful fingers. ‘Copperhead Road’ again proved to be a classic, as did the evergreen Punk classic ‘Pretty Vacant’. It looks as though Kelly’s is regaining its reputation as the number one venue for live music in Leamington. Looking forward to the return in July.

Wednesday 27th April 2005

Tonight the band were at the rehearsal studio putting the final touches to the latest addition to the set ‘Into the Valley’ by The Skids.

Saturday 16th April 2005 - The Nags Head, Nuneaton

The Nags Head is always a great gig but tonight surpassed all expectations. Hot and heaving best described the room and the punters as the room burst into life to the first chords of ‘Bohemian Like You’. Chico looked like a man possessed as he strutted and pouted like a peacock on heat, Bone pounded his drums like a demon and Joe dug into his Les Paul producing a sound that converts the unconverted. High point was the reaction to the first airing at The Nags of the dance classic ‘Danger! High Voltage!!’ which inspired a throng of ladies to cavort in front of the Boys nearly putting the usually unflappable JDF off his stroke. The party atmosphere continued well after the encores had finished, roll on June 4th.

Friday 15th April 2005 - The Fir Tree, New Arley

An enthusiastic crowd greeted the band at the Fir Tree. Intimate is the key word in the description of this venue and I’m not just talking about the ladies! There’s no place to shy away when face to face with a crowd who love their music and aren’t afraid to show it. Landlord Wilf knows his stuff and only books bands he knows the regulars will appreciate. A full house saw 8 Ball Joe turn in a totally professional performance with a good deal of humour to boot. Good to see that a good proportion of the punters were from outside the area, much to Wilf’s delight!!

Saturday 9th April 2005 - The Railway Workers Club, Coventry (Antelope MCC Party)

The small frontage of this venue hides a monster! The Antelopes' annual party always attracts a big crowd and a big crowd needs a big room! The band gave there all as usual but it took until the 2nd set for the crowd to get going. Surprisingly, 'Danger! High Voltage' was the catalyst that set the dance floor on fire and when followed  by 'Copperhead Road' the room went into meltdown.

Friday 8th April 2005 - The Coundon, Coventry

A throng of excited punters greeted the 8 Ball Boys as they took a shortcut through the Coundon's fire-doors setting off the pubs alarm system.  The Gaffer Tony and his wife made the band feel at home by promptly serving up 3 cups of tea as the last piece of equipment was humped onto the stage. No Jackie and the girls tonight to hit the floor but the number one 8 Ball crew (Tom with his posse & Ant and Janie) again made the trip and whooped up the crowd with their enthusiasm. New number, 'Danger! High Voltage', the Dance/Rock classic by Electric 6, got the room up and Rockin' and from then on the Boys could do no wrong. Cheers to you all for making the band so welcome and 'giving it some B****cks!!'.

Saturday 26th March 2005 - Fosters Yard, Polesworth

There was a party atmosphere at The Fosters Yard after England had beaten Northern Ireland 4-0 in the World Cup Qualifiers. The Boys were on to a winner. Again with a good crowd making the trip from outside the area, a packed room were in riotous form. Sad to hear that Sarah was now the ex-Landlady, though it was good to see her at the gig strutting her stuff in front of the band.

Friday 18th March 2005 - Blacksmith's Arms, Barwell, Leicester

Anticipation was running at fever pitch. A packed Blacksmiths' Arms was eager for some solid Rock and the Boys were fired up to deliver the goods. Joe let rip with his Les Paul, and instantaneously the alcohol left over from St.Patricks' celebrations the day before kicked in. Great to see familiar faces who had travelled across the border into Leicestershire including Rob, Paul, Ant, Janie, Karen and not forgetting Rocking 'Rocket' Reg & Jean.

Wednesday 16th March 2005

Today, Joe took delivery of a new set of Gibson Deluxe machine heads in an attempt to cure his Les Paul’s tuning problems. After successfully fitting the tuners he is now looking forward to putting them through a tough session in the hot and sweaty atmosphere of the Blacksmith's Arms this Friday.

Tuesday 15th March 2005

This morning saw Chico take a trip to ‘Mecca’, otherwise known as the Marshall Amplification factory in Bletchley to have his 400 watt bass amp restored to full rocking glory. Three cups of posh coffee & 90 minutes later the amp was duly returned fired up and ready to deliver the goods. Excellent service from a great British company & great coffee.

Friday 11th March 2005 - The White Lion, Bulkington

The band were met at the door by a young lad, worse for wear and with red streaming down his face. Yes, it was comic relief evening and some of the regulars at the White Lion were already entering the spirit. When the Boys kicked into action the crowds response was instantaneous and energetic. Great to see a mix of regulars & 8 Ballers including the birthday boy Ash, Ant, Nick (from Rebellious Jukebox), Tom and the posse then later Janie and Lindsay in full fancy dress. Reluctantly the Landlord and Landlady Bob & Jill had to call time leaving the crowd baying for more. A quick blast of ‘Gay Bar’ ended what was another great night at the Lion. Look forward to seeing you around May. Keep checking the Gig Guide.

Saturday 5th March 2005 - The Kingswood Tavern, Nuneaton

Another wild night at The Kingswood fuelled by great music and cheap house doubles. It didn’t take long to warm up as yet again the Boys rocked the place into oblivion. At one point the band themselves were entertained by some very enthusiastic ladies. One delightful creature skilled in the art of belly dancing shook parts that scientifically were not designed to be shaken, her friends joined along in what looked like a scene from a fantasy harem. Boiling point was reached when Bone, or Antonio Bonterelli as he now likes to be known, finished his energetic drum solo and Joe kicked in with the seminal riff from AC/DC’s ‘Sin City’.  Led by Mick, the ‘Crazy Shetland’, a mass headbanging session ensued. The band were again forced to play on well past their allotted time to the delight of the ‘8 Ballers’. Keep the Faith. See you next time.

Sunday February 27th 2005 - The Nags Head, Nuneaton

At 3pm the scene was set. The Nags was packed to the rafters, the crowd was baying for some solid action and the Boys were poised to deliver the goods. Bone ‘delicately’ thumped the intro to ‘Bohemian Like You’. Joe stroked the neck of his Gibson resulting in a delightful arpeggio. Chico assumed the position ready to fire up with a bowel emptying ‘E’ Chord. Then, ‘Wham’ Chico’s 400 watt Marshall developed stage fright and for the first time ever refused to co-operate. After a mercy dash the amp was hastily replaced and off they went over the abyss into the valley of the 8 Ball. Again ‘Copperhead Road’ was greatly received. Red hot and dripping the audience kept up every step of the way until the Boys left the stage steaming in a haze of pheromone & with pure sweat oozing from every pore.

Friday 18th February 2005 - The Coundon, Coventry

As the boys unloaded their equipment they could sense it was going to be a good night at The Coundon. By 9.30pm the crowd were shouting for action and boy did they receive it well. The dance-floor was put to good use all evening and was especially lively when the band showcased their latest offering, Steve Earls ‘Copperhead Road’. You could hear the sound of many thighs being slapped as Joe fingered his intro while Bone rhythmically brought in the kick drum then all hell broke loose as Chico emptied his big trousers and followed through with a single thunderous bass note. From then on the floor was never empty. It was well past midnight when the boys climaxed with the classic ‘Stand and Deliver’.    Great venue! Great crowd! Great night!

Who Are These Imposters?

Friday 11th February 2005 - The Bucksford, Nuneaton

The rain was hammering down again as The Boys humped their gear into The Bucksford. The audience was a bit thin on the ground tonight but were very vocal. This inspired the band to put on an energetic performance and play well past the allotted finish time. Thanks to Ash, Paul, Janie & Mark for making the effort giving their all.

Saturday 5th February 2005 - The Fletch, Coventry

The Boys arrived in Coventry in a torrent of rain. Once inside it was apparent that the stage area at The Fletch has been vastly improved by the removal of sight and sound killing obstructions. The difference was immediate. 8 Ball  whipped into the set with renewed vigour and an appreciative audience lapped it up. The Boys left Coventry in a torrent of rain.

Wednesday 2nd February 2005

Successful night at the rehearsal studio. As asked for, the Boys nailed 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' by Green Day and will be premiering it at The Fletch next Saturday. Email us with any more suggestions. Thy will, WILL be done.

Sunday 30th January 2005

The Boys will be rehearsing this week to add a fresh selection of numbers to the set. 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' by Green Day has been the most requested number over the past few weeks. 8 Ball Joe always aim to please and this has been placed on top of the pile.

Monday 24th January 2005 - Kellys', Leamington Spa

Ten years ago, Monday night at Kelly’s was THE venue to play. Always heaving it was a favourite on the Midlands circuit. After a few years of decline it is being built back up in an attempt to attain the height of its’ successful youth. Being a Monday, cold and a 12am bar the room was quite sparse until, at 10.30pm, a surge of bodies appeared demanding to be entertained. One over enthusiastic Aussie mounted the stage in excitement before being ushered back to the dance floor by the door staff. She later apologised slurring that the sight & size of the Boys equipment had stirred something in her loins and she just had to assume the position!! As always, 8 Ball did not disappoint. In an attempt to calm things down, they finished the set with a great rendition of ‘Sympathy for the Devil’.  Cheers to Jackie, Tom, Chris & Ash for making the journey over and, as always, giving great support.

Saturday 22nd January 2005 - Nags Head, Nuneaton

Though always popular at The Nags, the 8 Ball Boys expectations were surpassed on this night of nights. By 9pm the venue was crammed, dripping wet with anticipation and excitement (what colour gloves will Bone wear, has Joe gone too far with his lip-gloss and accessories, will Chico fill his trousers even more when hitting the high notes on Sympathy for the Devil). The wait was over, assuming the position the Boys exploded into action and the crowd were lapping up everything that was aimed their way. Items of undergarments were again hurled around the room in what can only be described as a pheromone fuelled frenzy. The Joe kicked out the jams relentlessly right up to the climax. ‘You Fought For The Right, they Kicked Out The Jams!!’  ‘You Were Hungry, You Got Fed’. The second course and afters…….Sunday 27th February….2.30pm……Take a Bite!!!

Sunday 16th January 2005- Tsunami Charity Gig

The huge turnout proved that people everywhere have been touched by this unbelievable tragedy. Michelle took it upon herself to organise today’s show because she cares and has the inner motivation to help make a difference.

Over £2100 was raised on the day which we all think is a fantastic achievement and thanks must go to Michelle, Crip, Jools, the staff at The Kingswood, the three bands and the 300 plus people who witnessed a great day and a great show.

Friday 14th January 2005 - Charity Gig Latest

8 Ball Joe have been confirmed to play a benefit gig for the Asian Tsunami Disaster Fund along with The Rooters and Gatecrasher in the function room of Nuneaton's Kingswood Tavern on Sunday 16th January. Doors open at 4.00pm and entry is £5 per person. Bands start at 5pm. Playing order 5pm to 6.30pm - 8 Ball Joe 7pm to 8.30 - The Rooters 9pm to 10.30 -  Gatecrasher.

 8th, 13th & 14th January 2005 - Fosters Yard, T.I.T.T. &  The Fir Tree

The second week of 2005 saw 8 Ball Joe play three gigs in quick fire
succession. Fosters Yard in Polesworth ran by the wonderfully sexy Sarah
kicked off 2005 in great style. Once the beer kicked in the locals took to
their feet, mounted the tables & gave it their best. Great to see Kez,
Clair, Steve, Deb, Pete, Gilly, Rob, Paul and the rest make the arduous
trip from Baddesley. The Tavern in the Town, Tamworth usually hosts a Blues Club on a Thursday evening. Dado, the man with the say to who is in and who is out definitely wanted the TITT to have a piece of 8 Ball. A welcome relief from tired blues riffs inspired the tidy crowd to vocalise and
banter with the Boys who in turn ramped up a gear to finish the night on a
high. The next evening saw the band play the Fir Tree in New Arley.
'Refreshed' after at least 3 hours sleep the previous night, the sight of
Karen & Kelly in full Rock Chick gear, Wilf & Ian necking the scrumpy like
the Worzels inspired the boys to rock out. And rock they did! Like a dog on
heat, Joe dug into his Les Paul as though his life depended on it. Tennis
elbow or not, Bone powered through the set like a man possessed while Chico
