YELLOW KILLER COWARDS at the Rainbow in Digbeth - Saturday 6th May 2010
Joe’s son Dexter takes the stage this Saturday with Birmingham band YELLOW KILLER COWARDS. The band are an offshoot of popular Indie Pop band The Heathers who have their own record label and have already signed artists Rachel Plant and teenage singing sensation Laura Bowen.
Dexter a serious drummer and a Euro Skills silver medal winner landed the job after a series of auditions beating the cream of Birmingham applicants.
Here’s what they say:
“Matt and Murray from 'the Heathers' diversify with new project 'yellow killer cowards' joined by 19 year old Dexter Kingston on drums with Murray shifting stage left to lead vocals. The guys have a raw edgier set, that still has the faultless guitar and bass from that perfect partnership with the ripping fusion drumming, that perfectly compliments the indiepop rock sound!”
Also on the bill are Kerrang unsigned band winners THE E-GOS catch the show at the Rainbow in Digbeth Birmingham sounds like a night not to be missed!!!!http://www.myspace.com/theheathersuk
Quigley's Irish Bar, Rugby - Friday 29th January 2010
It was great to be back at Quigley's again after a years break. It always used to be compact and lively....tonight was no exception. The Boys played a couple of new numbers which were well appreciated. ZZ Tops' version of 'I Thank You' and Dr.Feelgoods 'Milk and Alcohol'. Primal Screams 'Rocks' made a great return to the set to. This was a slowed down version with more of a groove which made dancing to it even easier. Not as crazy as other nights in the past but very enjoyable.
L.M.R.C.A (Railway) Club, Rugby - 2nd May 2009
It's been six months since 8 Ball last played the Railway Club and WOW......what a difference. The room was packed and is was non-stop partying throughout the three sets the band dished out. A high point was the airing of 'Reefs' classic 'Place Your Hands'. My word, there were some hands being placed!!

What a cracker at the Crown!!! Thanks for a full and
meaty night of raucous entertainment on Saturday, you were on fire. The

before........easy on the ears as well as the eyes.
The Kingswood Tavern, Nuneaton - Saturday 28th February 2009
Arriving early to an already packed room, the Boy’s quickly got down to erecting their gear and setting up the new PA. The whole process was worryingly quick. Great monitor sound, great sound out front and no feedback.
By 9.15 the bar was rammed, many new faces to. 8 Ball decided to go on early and kicked off the first set with the old favourite ‘Bohemian Like You’. Everything went like a dream…..PA wise and music wise. ‘I Hate Myself for Loving You’ by Joan Jett was very well received. The second set included another new one for the Boys. ‘I am the Walrus’ is a track that is requested many times and you can see why. A seamless transition into ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ was the call for some energetic dancing at the front. After a three song encore, the Boys finished with an old 8 Ball favourite ‘Gay Bar’. The place was still buzzing an hour after the Lads had finished. The Kingswood is definitely one of 8 Balls’ top venues.
New PA System - Monday 23rd February 2009
8 Ball really do care for your ears!! It’s official!!
The Boy’s have invested their hard earned cash into a new PA power Amp and Mixing Desk. After searching for the right combination for the job they secured purchase (ok…..bought!!) a 900watt per channel Peavey ‘GPS2600’ Power Amp and a Peavey ‘PV14 USB’ Mixing Desk.Tonight Chico and Joe put the set up through it’s paces in the function room of the Kingswood and initial reports are favourable. The big test will be this Saturday in the Kingswood bar.

Quigley's Irish Bar, Rugby - Friday 5th September 2008
This compact venue is always so full of life. 8 Ball squeezed onto the stage and as soon as they launched into 'Bohemian Like You' the Guinness began to flow. By the time the second set came around it was standing room only. The Daventry Posse were there in force (nice trousers!!). The new numbers went down especially well. 'Radar Love' has earned itself a permanent spot in the ever evolving 8 Ball set.

The Walnut Tree Inn (Hotel), Blisworth, Northampton - Saturday 30th August 2008
It's so good to be back. What a way to kick start the band back into action. A very classy venue enjoyed a re-invigorated 8 Ball Joe. The all new 'Radar Love' went down a storm topped only by the fabulous 'Sex Bomb'. The very appreciative crowd bayed for more well into the early hours. Hopefully this will be a regular haunt for your favourite 3 piece.
The Boy's have been hard at it this Summer. Not only have they improved their already gorgeous tans, they have been hard at it adding to their ever-increasing repertoire.
Golden Earrings' 'Radar Love', Tom Jones' 'Sex Bomb' and 'Foxy Lady' by Jimi Hendrix are the choice delicacies of their ever changing set.
Latest - 'Music at the Manor' on Saturday 6th September 2008
8 Ball Joe have been confirmed as headline band for the annual ‘Music at the Manor’ charity all-dayer at the Manor Pub in Fillongley, Warwickshire.
After a change of venue last year (Royal Oak in Bedworth) the hugely popular event is now back at it’s rightful home but later in the year. It’s all happening on the 6th September. ‘Acidice’ are to kick the show off at 2pm then ‘8 Ball Joe’ take the last spot around 8.45pm.
The Sir John Moore Foundation is a 17th century school designed by Christopher Wren and built in Appleby Magna at the heart of the English Midlands. Every year a Midsummer's Concert is arranged to help fund the upkeep of this very important and imposing building. The stage, lighting and sound system was excellent so all that was needed were the people and the weather. One out of two wasn’t bad. A crowd of at least a thousand turned up in waterproofs and carrying umbrellas determined to have a great time. ‘Expresso Bongo’ and a local school choir warmed lit the kindling then 8 Ball fanned the flames. An hour and a half of classic 8 Ball ensued. The Boys stormed through their set which included some new numbers such as Bowies ‘Starman’ and The Cars ‘Just What I needed’ and climaxed with an impressive fireworks display. Thanks to Deanna and all involved for making the Boys so welcome and doing such an impressive job.

Saturday 3rd May 2008 - The Crown, Nuneaton
The Boy's baptised the newly constructed stage at the Crown in style. A huge crowd greeted the threesome who played a mammoth two sets of 8 Ball classics. The Crown is fast becoming an ideal replacement to the Nags Head and with it's new layout, the whole experience of watching a band has improved immensely.
Saturday 15th March 2008 - The Anker, Weddington, Nuneaton
This was the first time 8 Ball Joe had played the Anker and, as per usual, it was hoofing it down with rain. The venue is superb for gigs. Good lighting, good stage and great sound. A sizeable crowd had gathered and the Boys didn't disappoint. No need for a cardigan, the heat intensified as 2 sets of classics rained down. There wasn't a dry seat in the house!
